BTR Tokenomics Update - Vesting Schedule Clarification
Published by the Bitlayer Foundation | May 15, 2026
At Bitlayer, we believe that trust is built through transparency. Today, we are publishing a clarification on BTR vesting schedules, along with a full Transparency Report, to ensure that all community members have accurate and complete information about how BTR tokens have been distributed since TGE.
What We Are Clarifying
KOL Investor Vesting Terms
Bitlayer’s investor base includes approximately 30 KOL (Key Opinion Leader) investors who participated under a separate investment agreement structure. These agreements were established prior to TGE on August 27, 2025, and included different vesting terms from those of standard investors:
| KOL Investors | Standard Investors | |
|---|---|---|
| Cliff period | 3 months | 6 months |
| First unlock | November 27, 2025 | February 27, 2026 |
| Vesting duration | 12 months (monthly) | 18 months (monthly) |
Because the KOL cliff was 3 months from TGE, the first KOL distributions began on November 27, 2025 — several months before standard investor unlocks. A total of 259,243 BTR was distributed to KOL investors between November 2025 and January 2026 through the Liquify distribution platform.
Standard Investor First Unlock
Our publicly communicated investor vesting schedule described the first investor unlock as March 27, 2026. The actual investment agreements with standard investors specify a first unlock of February 27, 2026 — one month earlier. On February 27, 2026, 2,903,700 BTR was distributed to 150 recipients across 4 batch transactions. The March 27, 2026 distribution of 5,628,880 BTR to 229 recipients followed on schedule.
Why This Was Not Communicated Earlier
We want to be direct about this: it was an operational oversight.
The KOL vesting schedule was governed by individual investment agreements. Our team treated these distributions as routine platform operations through Liquify and did not identify the need for a separate community announcement. The difference between KOL terms and the publicly described schedule should have been disclosed proactively — and it was not.
We are not minimizing this gap. Accurate, timely disclosure is a baseline responsibility, and we fell short of it here. We are correcting this now with full transparency.
Full Transparency Report
We have published the BTR Transparency Report v1, which provides:
- Complete token allocation table for all 7 categories (1,000,000,000 BTR total supply)
- Vesting schedule details for every investor sub-category
- Full chronological distribution history with amounts and recipient counts
- Cross-chain custody verification (Chainlink CCIP lock-and-mint)
- All relevant contract and wallet addresses for independent on-chain verification
The report is available on the Bitlayer Foundation’s official channels.
On-Chain Verification
Anyone can verify BTR token movements and balances directly on-chain. Key addresses:
| Contract / Wallet | Chain | Address |
|---|---|---|
| BTR Token | Bitlayer | 0x0e4cf4affdb72b39ea91fa726d291781cbd020bf |
| CCIP Lock Contract | Bitlayer | 0x786248b634b1ebc7b5fc809c74a1a212fc920d63 |
| BTR Token | Ethereum | 0x6c76de483f1752ac8473e2b4983a873991e70da7 |
| BTR Token | BNB Chain | 0xfed13d0c40790220fbde712987079eda1ed75c51 |
| Investor Multisig | Ethereum | 0x87f794155148907afd333f4bf121990e2528ee39 |
The Ethereum investor multisig currently holds 60,946,366 BTR, with the remaining investor allocation continuing to vest on schedule.
Going Forward
We are committed to a higher standard of disclosure going forward:
- Advance notice: Any future changes to vesting schedules or non-standard distribution events will be communicated publicly at least 14 days in advance.
- Monthly on-chain snapshots: Starting May 2026, we will publish monthly on-chain balance summaries for all major allocation categories.
- Clear investor sub-category disclosure: Future tokenomics communications will explicitly distinguish between investor sub-groups where vesting terms differ.
